You know the drill. Water bottle rocking on the floor, phone balancing on the bench, a towel that's soggy before you finish your second set. The HydraCore kit was built to kill all of it - one clean ecosystem that snaps to any steel rack and keeps your gear off the dirty ground.
But before you buy, you've got questions. Good. This is the FAQ we actually get, answered straight. No fluff, no gimmicks.
What exactly ships in a HydraCore kit?
The kit is four tools that cover the daily gym annoyances in one ecosystem:
- HydraCore Carry - the original magnetic carry. Locks your water, phone, and keys to any steel gym machine in under a second. That's the one that kills the dirty-floor problem.
- HydraCore MagDock - a magnetic phone dock that snaps to any steel rack at eye level with full rotation, so your phone stops balancing on the bench.
- HydraCore CryoTowel - a cooling towel. Wet it, wring it, snap it for instant cooling. Dries fast and stores in a sealed EVA case so your bag stays dry.
- HydraCore Halo - a gym lighting tool with 7 modes and 500 lumens that lights you from eye level so your definition actually shows on camera, instead of fighting harsh overhead gym lighting.
Each piece works alone, and they lock together as one clean carry. Start with the Carry, add the rest as your setup grows.
Does it fit my gym's equipment?
That's the #1 question, so here's the honest answer: the magnetic range - Carry, MagDock, and Halo - attaches to any ferrous (magnetic) metal. That means almost every commercial gym's steel racks, posts, cable machines, and plate holders. If a magnet sticks to it, HydraCore sticks to it.
Not magnetic? Powder-coated and some painted surfaces can be hit or miss - a strong magnet will often still grab through the coating, but not always. When in doubt, the old fridge-magnet test settles it in two seconds: if a magnet clings, you're good.
The CryoTowel needs no mounting at all. It drapes over a rack, hooks onto a wrist, or lies across a bench. No magnets required.
Will it hold my phone?
Yes - this is what the MagDock exists for. It grips phones of basically every size, from small iPhones to the big phablet-style flagships, either bare or in a case (it grabs the case, not the screen). Full 360-degree rotation means you flip it portrait, landscape, or angle it to film.
The Carry also has a phone slot, so if you want your phone in your pocket and your water + keys locked to the rack, that's the one. Prefer your phone up at eye level to check sets or film? Go MagDock. Some people run both - phone on the dock, water and keys in the carry.
How strong is the magnetic hold?
Strong enough to hold a full water bottle under normal bump-and-move gym motion. This is not a "holds in place on the bounce" cheap gift-shop magnet. These are high-hold neodymium magnets sized for a full steel rack hold. Do a heavy set, rack the weight, bump the bottle - it stays put.
The tradeoff is that deliberately ripping it off takes a confident yank. That's the point: you want gear that locks on and only comes off when you want it off.
How do I take care of the CryoTowel?
Easy. Two habits:
- Rinse and wring after use. It's a towel that's been on your face and neck. A quick rinse under a tap, wring it out, done.
- Dry it before sealing. Put it back in its EVA case only once it's dry or nearly dry. That sealed case is what keeps your bag safe, but seal it while soggy and it'll get musty. Let it breathe for a few minutes before you zip.
It's built to take constant use. Snap it in the shower post-lift, give it a rinse, and it's ready for tomorrow.
What about the Halo's 7 modes - what do I actually use?
They're not fluff, they're for real situations:
- Warm ambient - warm, cosy light for setting the room before you train.
- Cool task - brighter, cooler light to see details on the rack.
- Camera-friendly - the one you want when you film. It lights your chest, shoulders, and arms from eye level so definition reads on the phone, instead of trying harsh gym overhead lights.
- Strobe and utility modes - stepping-list safety, flashlight-style backup, and the extra modes you'll hardly touch until you need them.
You pick a mode, the Halo snaps to the rack, and single position covers whatever you're doing that session.
Will the kit last, or is it a fad?
Tough is the whole point. The magnets, webbing, and clips are built for daily commercial gym abuse - not bedroom aesthetics. It's priced mid-range on purpose: better than the cheap film-flam stuff, without the premium for a logo. If you're the type who's replaced three cheaper bags, this is the one that survives.
Could it hold more than water?
The Carry's magnetic anchor is versatile. Hydrants - shaker upright, keys, glasses, a phone, a small shaker or supplements, even a rolled t-shirt to a place to hang your towel mid-upper. The idea is the same: keep gear off the floor and off the bench.
The one-liner
If you're tired of dirty floors and ensuring stuff balancing on benches, this kit removes the friction from your whole session. Gear off the floor, phone at eye level, cool when it's hot, lit when you film. Snap. Lock. Done.
Which kit should I start with?
If you only ever buy one thing, it starts with the all-around Carry - it solves the "locked-on-the-floor" problem for water, phone, and keys at once, which is the single most annoying part of gym gear. Building out from there:
- Phone on the bench obsess → snap a MagDock to eye level.
- Bag stays dry → add the CryoTowel with its sealed case.
- Defined looks right in photo/video → add the Halo.
Buy the pieces that match your biggest pet peeve, being that every one of them runs on the same magnetic system, so they read as one crisp ecosystem - no mixing and matching from five brands.
Still wondering if a specific machine or phone fits? Test with a magnet, and then it's carpet done. Your carry - your way. Snap. Lock. Done.
